Only between the US and Canada for now. With very few exceptions, Grasshopper business texting works for toll-free and local numbers in both countries. Note that we can’t send texts from a toll-free number to a Canada number just yet, but we’re working on it. We’re also looking to add more countries, so stay tuned!

Easy. Just log in to your online account, head to the Settings page, and add the feature. You can also call us at (800) 279-1455 if you’d like a hand.
Every text will show up in the Texts section of the Grasshopper apps. You can also enable push notifications so you’ll always know right when they arrive, just like you would with your personal text messages.
Yep, but there’s one restriction. Group texting for business only works if you are sending from a local Grasshopper number. It’s not possible yet from toll-free numbers. And just a heads up, everyone on the group message thread will see all the recipients’ numbers and all replies.

Unified messaging is the integration of multiple forms of communication, such as phone calls, text messages, faxes and more, in a singular location.
Regulatory compliance requires toll-free numbers to be verified to avoid SMS service disruptions or limitations. Verification is intended to reduce unwanted spam and lessens the likelihood of your messages being filtered as spam. It is recommended that all new customers have their toll-free numbers verified, even when porting existing toll-free numbers from another carrier. The verification process can be completed during setup and is entirely free.
You will need to submit a form with information about your intended use of SMS, with examples of the messaging you plan to send. Your carrier will also need proof of consent. Our Customer Care team will notify you when the carrier has completed the verification process. You can find detailed instructions here.
If your toll-free number cannot be verified, you will be able to send SMS from that number until you have reached the messaging threshold. Once you have reached that limit, you will not be able to continue sending SMS. If for any reason your number cannot be verified – or if you simply prefer not to go through the verification process – our Customer Care team can help you trade your toll-free number for a local number.
